CAMPUSES OF KOZHIKODE STUDENT'S ENRICHMENT PROGRAM – 25 th Nov 2022 “KMCT MARGADARSHINI CAMPUS TRAINING”

Campuses of Kozhikode, KMCT Medical College in association with SSGP and department of Community medicine conducted KMCT “Margadarshini Campus Training” as part of students’ enrichment program on 25th November 2022(Friday) at 2pm to 5 pm in LH2, KMCT Medical College.

The training session was mainly aimed to encourage positive peer to peer interaction among the studentsin all forms. Volunteers from each batch of MBBS were present in the session. 48 students participated in the program.

The introductory speech on evolution of students’ enrichment program was delivered by Dr Jayakrishnan T, Professor& HOD of the department. A paper presentation based on results from project work was done by Miss. YellaramNikitha and Miss. Yadhupriya2019 MBBS batch, on “Perception of substance abuse among students in a medical college in Kerala”.

The training session started with Dr MidhunSidharthan, Former District Nodal Officer,District Mental Health Program, Kozhikode currently working as assistant professor, Dept. of Psychiatry, Govt. Medical College, Kozhikode delivering the topic ‘Neuroscience of addiction.’

Next session was led by Dr Seema P Uthaman, Assistant Professor, Dept. of Psychiatric Social Work, IMHANS, Kozhikode divided the students into four groups and gave different topics for discussion

Individual and familial factors leading to substance abuse Social / environmental factors leading to substance abuse Physical impact of substance abuse Psychological impact of substance abuse.

One student from each group shared their ideason above mentioned topics and she discussed on “Psychosocial aspects of substance abuse”.

Later panel discussion was done with the students on the topic ‘Actions to be taken at various levels.’ Mr. Isham, Miss. Yadhupriya, Miss Thasni, Mr Anand, Miss Samreen, Miss Haneena, Miss. Nesna were shared their ideas to start mentoring from first year onwards and other recreational activities to reduce stress.Followed by that Dr. Rupesh Raman, Assistant Professor, Dept. of Community Medicine gave future plans and remarks. Token of appreciation was given to both speakers. Program was concluded by vote of thanks by Dr Sruthikrishna P, Junior resident in Dept. of Community Medicine.
